Senior Analyst Financial Risk

Firma Foreign Exchange is looking for a responsible person to work as a Senior Analyst Financial Risk for our busy downtown Edmonton office.

Reporting to the Supervisor Financial Risk, the Senior Analyst Financial Risk is responsible for maintaining and monitoring compliance with Firma’s financial risk management policies, implementing internal controls, executing derivative strategies, and providing support to the Position Profit, Cash Management and Credit teams.

This position is accountable for contributing to effective Treasury Management systems and processes that balance Firma’s overall financial, and reputational risk associated with its cash position, forecasting and cash flow performance.  The Senior Analyst Financial Risk supports client-focused practices that position Firma for scalable, profitable business growth.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain strategy, processes and procedures to improve the credit, liquidity, operational and market risk of the business
  • Monitor Firma’s Mark-to-Market (MTM) position with Suppliers (banks)
  • Monitor Firma’s MTM position with customers
  • Work closely with internal customer service to provide MTM notifications and margin calls to customers
  • Work closely with the Position Profit and Cash Management teams to ensure Firma’s currency and credit positions are accurately managed and forecasted in cash balances
  • Monitor pre-deliveries of customer forward contracts
  • Monitor margin and credit once forwards are considered expired
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge base of all products, services, strategies and pricing adopted by the key banking players
  • Understand the competencies required for successful job performance and utilize this knowledge to coach and develop team members as well as to identify training needs
  • Energize and inspire the team – generating excitement, a sense of pride, and a drive to excel
  • Build and maintain relationships at all levels both within and outside the organization
  • Serve as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders, while responding to and resolving escalated issues appropriately
  • Identify ways to improve productivity and efficiency, while also utilizing relevant internal technology to efficiently manage cash needs and deliverables
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration or Commerce majoring in Finance
  • Completion of or working towards a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is considered an asset
  • Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in treasury and/or risk.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure within a fast-paced team                                                                                         environment to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing tasks
  • Strong organizational skills

The shift is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with availability from 8am to 5pm.

Total Compensation:

  • Salary to be discussed in interview   
  • Possibility of earning up to 10% of salary as bonus
