Compliance Officer - Temporary Position

We are looking for a responsible and motivated person to work as a Compliance Officer and join our Sydney, Australia office. As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring accounts are compliant and are in adherence to the business and Anti-Money Laundering requirements. The successful candidate must be a fast learner who can effectively multi-task in a busy, yet dynamic work environment. This opportunity is an excellent way to gain Compliance experience.

Start Date: January 2018 (13 month temporary coverage position: January 2018 – January 2019).

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that Firma Foreign Exchange adheres to its requirements under Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing legislation in Australia and New Zealand by performing the following duties:
    • Review  and monitor Firma clients and transactions for risk
    • Screen client applications to ensure all information is complete and accurate
    • Verify client applications by performing corporate searches
    • Communicate with Corporate Traders for missing client application requirements
    • Maintain internal filing, tracking, and reporting systems
  • Ensure that Firma adheres to its Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) requirements by performing the following duties:
    • Maintain monthly registers, agendas, and meeting minutes
    • Assist in the distribution and tracking of monthly training
  • Adhere to compliance obligations and all company policies
  • Reports to Compliance Manager and Branch Manager
  • Perform other duties as required
  • All training provided, experience an asset

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent is a requirement
  • Completion of post-secondary is considered an asset
  • Experience working in an office environment is an asset
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure within a fast-paced team                                                                                         environment to meet strict deadlines
  • All training provided, experience an asset

Total Compensation:

  • $45,000 to $55,000 annual base salary
  • Eligible to earn up to 10% in the form of bonus
  • 9% Superannuation
  • 4 weeks’ paid vacation annually
  • Full time position (non-permanent)
  • 13 month contract

The shift is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with availability from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
